Wildfire Decision Support System Meeting
You are invited to attend a meeting hosted by the Arkansas River Watershed Collaborative to be held in Salida on May 23rd at 10:30 a.m. The purpose of the meeting is the continuation and expansion of a project to develop the GIS database for the Wildfire Decision Support System (WFDSS) that includes critical drinking water sources. The primary intent for the data is to support wildfire suppression decisions during an active event with the objective of avoiding catastrophic impacts to a community’s drinking water supplies. Secondarily, the data would support decisions around pre-fire mitigation and post-fire restoration activities for high-value surface water resources.
Who Should Attend: Water providers that would like to learn more about WFDSS and work towards getting their critical water supply information into GIS and the Federal decision support tool. We are focusing on those systems that are within, or in proximity to, the Pike San Isabel National Forest and Arkansas River Basin.
